On New Years, Kouta is relaxing at home when Chizuru comes crashing in through the door to spend some time as lovers. While Kouta tries to spend the day normally by doing some kakizome (書き初め), i.e. “New Years writing”, Chizuru’s boredom leads to her taking advantage of Kouta as usual.

Zastin and his men detect an unknown light heading towards Earth and while Zastin believes he can easily intervene, he decides that this is a trial that Rito should pass on his own.

After getting a request to volunteer for the town festival, Shinkurou finds himself participating in a musical play, thanks to Tamaki and Yamie. Flaunting her supposed experience, Yamie says that she'll probably steal the lead role since she used to be in a children's choir, much to the surprise of the other two.

After breaking out of the underground basement they were locked in, Allison and Wil make their way to a small shed. There, Benedict happens to come along and meet up with them, but with villagers on their trail, the three decide to make a break for it.
