Sasameki Koto - 04

“4+1”

I know it’s a trap, but I don’t mind so much when “Yamasaki Akemi” is an unwilling participant. It leads to some pretty good humour along the way, which I’m all for.

So after Tomoe and Miyako stumbled upon Sumika and Ushio’s after school kissing session, they invite the two of them to form an all girls club. As a secret lesbian club in disguise, Sumika’s completely against it and refuses, so Miyako tries to blackmail her into joining with some photographic evidence. When Sumika tries to explain the situation, the two of them are able to trick her into admitting that she loves Ushio, making it even harder for her to get out of joining. However, it’s not until Sumika sees Ushio interested in the club and hesitating to join because they can’t join together that she says the hell with everything and decides to do it.

Before they can form a club though, they need a fifth member to meet the minimum requirements. To find potential lesbian partners for Ushio, Sumika extorts the help of Masaki and gets his female self to confess to the various prospects that Kiyori scouted out. Unfortunately, they all turn out to be straight and the one who’s left to be fifth member is Masaki himself after Ushio runs into “her”. In the end though, their teacher denies the creation of such a stupid club.

The plot sounds overly simple, but this episode had me laughing on a few occasions. For one, it was funny seeing Sumika wrestle with her inner thoughts when Ushio kept talking about other girls (e.g. Akemi). She also had a hard time dealing with the fact that Tomoe and Miyako figured out her unrequited yuri love so easily, which was unfortunate for her but hilarious for me. Kiyori on the other hand continues to be the straight, yet supportive friend. I just love the way that Katou Emiri plays her half-sarcastically most of the time.

The funniest part of the episode had to be Masaki being blackmailed into crossdressing and doing whatever Sumika demanded. I felt kind of sorry for him because he can’t really say no to the girl he likes. To make things worse, Sumika didn’t seem to give a damn about his feelings either. As such, I probably enjoyed watching him go up to these popular girls and confess wholeheartedly to them more than I should have. It was a bit awkward because you just knew he was going to get rejected, but it didn’t seem that bad since it’s not really him confessing. Of course, that’s until he himself says it still hurts to be rejected and called a pervert under these circumstances. Oh the “LOL” goodness!

Needless to say, I really enjoyed this episode and am looking forward to more on “the trials and tribulations of Yamasaki Akemi”.

It would be interesting to see if they ended up forming the club..

Sumika is going down the path of no return, & dragging Masaki with her. This one was really a lolfest. I’m going to definitely enjoy this when everything starts to spiral out of control.

ugh, i hate the soundtrack. i love this series, but this should really be more of a comedy, but the soundtrack makes it all slow and drama-ish.

I feel bad for Sumika four chapters and the only thing she gets is rejection all the time. Last chapter she sneak an almost real kisu, now once more another kick in the gut. I did laugh but I’m starting to dislike Ushio. Girls are smart, how can she be so mean and not notice Sumi. hehe crazy yuri fun my guess

This episode was pretty good. Looks like they’re trying to show the goofy humor in the manga, unlike in the previous episodes.

… if feels like they change voice acting for the girl with the glasses…. it almost sounds like a boy.

Seems to be alot of Yuri anime lately. Are guys really enjoying this? I would think this would be counter intuitive as it would put the usual male anime fan in a space where they are reminded they would never ever have a chance with girls that look anywhere near as cute as this. Kinda of a weird form of escapism if you ask me. Unless these are guys who like very soft core yuri.

To be honest, I don’t think that deeply about why I’m watching this. In general, if I find a show entertaining, then I’ll probably watch it regardless of what the genre may be. My tastes happen to be pretty diverse, so something like yuri won’t discourage me from checking it out. With Sasameki Koto, it’s mostly for the humour involved though.
