Show Spoiler for Bleach Chapter 373 ▼
Up until the very last panel, this chapter wasn’t anything special. Starrk shows off his wolves, they do some damage to Love and Rose (nice to see Love without his glasses for once), and Starrk gets ready to finish them off. But then we see him getting stabbed from behind, and with no clear indication of who the blade belongs to, things get a lot more interesting. My immediate thought was that, because no perpetrator was shown, the blade belonged to someone on his own side, but it’s hard to build a case for taking out the Primera Espada unless it was Harribel deciding that it was time to move up in the ranks or her doing something related to her aspect of death, sacrifice. It would be great if it were Aizen, Ichimaru, or Tousen, but that wouldn’t make any sense at this current stage unless Aizen was suddenly feeling bored or something. If it was a Shinigami, then it probably would have to be someone who struck without Starrk noticing them or their blade getting closer, and the only Shinigami present who are powerful enough to do that are Yamamoto and maybe Kyouraku or Ukitake. Good guys usually don’t attack from behind in this fashion though.
Regardless of who it is, I doubt this kind of wound will prove fatal to Starrk. In a series like Bleach, getting stabbed like this makes for a nice cliffhanger, but the actual injury equates to little more than a flesh wound. Plus, it’s too early for Starrk to croak since he has yet to show why he deserved to be the Primera Espada. So far, those wolves haven’t been more impressive than Barragan’s miasma.
Bonus points if you can identify what the title of this post is referring to.

First. Chapter was quite the bore.
Omni at 12:17 am on September 12th, 2009
WW’s companion blew away those flames already.

Free of Soul Eater? I could be wrong.
sean at 12:23 am on September 12th, 2009
my guess is that its either love or rose’s technique, because on the first panel of the last page u see starrks shadow drawn very distinctly and then a “black” blade stabs him which could be a shadow attacking him.

Free’s magic. And I loved those wolves!

I am going to put a theory out there, which will be awesome if it’s true, but will most likely be completely wrong.
I have to say that that blade in the last panel looks black (of course, it could just be all the blood. The rest of this theory is assuming it’s not the blood that’s making it black). The only black blade I can think of that we’ve already seen is Ichigo’s bankai (unless I’m forgetting something. There have been so many swords throughout the series, this is very possible). The only problem is that Ichigo should still be stuck in Hueco Mundo, so that can’t be right (plus the size is too big). This led me to the big jump in thinking that maybe MAYBE this could be Isshin finally making another appearance, wich a bankai that is similar to Ichigo’s. I have no idea how Shinigami powers work, but maybe relatives can have similar incarnations of their zanpakuto. I’ve been waiting for more to happen with him since it was first revealed that he was/is a Shinigami, and then all we got with him was that scene with Ryuken. I really hoped that he’d get some action and join in with this big battle with Aizen.
Of course, this is all just a horrible theory which will probably prove to be very untrue. It’s mostly wishful thinking for me. ^^”

Aw man, ignore my theory…sean’s makes way more sense, since it looks like on page 17, Rose is setting up for something.
But I really wanna see more of Isshin T-T.

I dunno.. I think it’s someone new, why else would they say who’s blade is it? they’d just show rose being like, yo i got you!. Im guessing its one of the shinigami captains or a vaizard.

OMG, the blade that stab-ded starrk was, SHIKAMARU’s shadow jutsu! XD
Either that or it’s ichigo. lol.
heh.
VeiledRose at 1:12 am on September 12th, 2009
I’m really hoping that it was Grimmjow for whatever reason… they never did verify his death, you know? If it WAS someone on Starrk’s side, I would think it’d be the person who had on previous occasions attacked a fellow Arrancar.
Blue at 1:18 am on September 12th, 2009
They say “who’s blade is it?” as a tactic to get people interested for the next chapter =P. Though I can pretty much say its probably going to be what sean had suggested
Eclair at 1:24 am on September 12th, 2009
Ichigo maybe? It’s black.
Velius at 1:25 am on September 12th, 2009
The fight with the wolves seemed merely like the start of the fight. Some minor damage, but no one really looked like they were any where near really serious. I really doubt Starrk is finished. Everyone’s pretty confused on what attacked him. Could turn out to be anything. I’m going to go with a good guy. But that would make it 3 vs 1. I guess that’s what it will take to take out the primera.
Chisel at 1:28 am on September 12th, 2009
My guess is that it was Kyouraku who stabbed him. Since he hasn’t shown up since Rose and Love came over and took over the fight with Starrk. The next chapter could have him come out to remind everyone that he’s still here. And if I remember correctly he also had two black machette/sabre type sword.

i think its the broken pieces of barragan’s gran caida. i mean aizen broke it into pieces right? so then it kinda makes sense that the pieces are going to be flying all over the place.
n3rf at 1:45 am on September 12th, 2009
Was the title referring to soul eater(Werewolf guy’s chant) by any chance?
Well anyways my guess it probably is Kyouraku that stabbed stark. I think there have been a few occasions where he tried catching stark by surprise.
matt at 1:50 am on September 12th, 2009
You were referring to Inuyasha
Guille at 1:50 am on September 12th, 2009
Aizen didnt broke barragan`s axe, it desintegrated along with him
I hope someone unexpected stab Starrk like Grimmjow
dmo at 2:01 am on September 12th, 2009
Stark : ’tis but a flesh wound.
