Watch the ED!: Mirror 1, Mirror 2
「届け!私の想い! 砕け散れ!俺の想い! 愛は疾走する!」 (Todoke! Watashi no Omoi! Kudakechire! Ore no Omoi! Ai wa Sissou Suru!)
“Get Across! My Feelings!, Smash Up! My Feelings!, Love is Sprinting Away!”
Impressions:
I was looking forward to the School Rumble San Gakki OVA when I heard it was announced, but I wasn’t sure what to expect. After watching the first episode, I have to say it was nothing like I expected and I’m somewhat disappointed in both the production quality (isn’t this supposed to be an OVA!?) and lack of continuity between the previous season, Ni Gakki. For the former reason, I’ll let the screen captures speak for themselves. As for the lack of continuity, the episode started off with some very quick recap of the main characters as per a typical Sukuran episode, but quickly shifted into a discussion of the third semester, revealing a bunch of scenes we’ve never seen before. At first, I thought I had forgotten what happened at the end of the last season, but it turned out that these were scenes to get us up to speed on what’s happening now. Basically, it was like being thrown into a whirlwind of a premise that was difficult to accept right away. To make things worse, the episode continued on in the same manner, expecting us to have absorbed the first two minutes of in-your-face information. Needless to say, it made the episode itself a little hard to enjoy because it felt like it was all over the place (which it was, so I might not even summarize it properly). I would even go as far as saying that unless you still have all the Sukuran characters fresh in your mind, you might even get lost in some of their antics.
In short though, it’s the third semester of school and Tenma finally gets her feelings across to Kurasuma, but he’s leaving for America so he turns her down. Seeing an extremely depressed Tenma, Harima takes it upon himself to beat up Karasuma, who fights back saying he’s just a coward and actually loves her. (Where the hell did this come from!? Also, an emotional Karasuma!) After beating the hell out of each other, the two finally see eye to eye, so Karasuma says that he feels Harima can make Tenma happy. As for himself, Kurasuma says that he’s content with just watching her from afar, then heads off to the airport. Meanwhile, Harima rushes over to Tenma saying he can make her happy, which shocks everyone else. However, instead of confessing, he drags her off to the airport, trying to catch Karasuma in time.
Finally, the opening song is the same as the first season, which is Scramble by Horie Yui with UNSCANDAL. (Horie Yui also plays Sawachika Eri.) The ending song is also the same as the first season, except it’s sung by Tenma and Yakumo’s seiyuus this time, hence the download I’ve provided above.
Addendum:
I renamed the post to episode 25, because this two part OVA is supposed to be the last two episodes of the not-going-to-be-produced third season, which is also the end of the School Rumble series (not counting the School Rumble Z manga sequel of course). According to what I’ve seen online, this is the intended numbering for these episodes. Now as to whether or not episodes 1-24 will be animated, I would say it’s highly unlikely at this point, but if you have information that indicates otherwise, please feel free to send me an e-mail about it and I’ll correct this space. Finally, there’s a clip of Koshimizu Ami and Noto Mamiko talking about San Gakki on the official site, but in Japanese only of course.

This is going to crash harder than the manga’s ending.
Really disappointing. This is coming from a guy that has spent several hundred dollars importing collectables PVC figures and manga’s from Japan.
Ungas at 11:09 pm on July 23rd, 2008
shit! finally!
Chimasternmay at 11:10 pm on July 23rd, 2008
so i guess they just gonna animate the ending of the manga, , then they better have in there what ever happens in 283….. however it would have been much better if they had made a third season with about them going to the field trip arc and all… awe well.. at least the ending is animated.
Ungas at 11:12 pm on July 23rd, 2008

Chimasternmay at 11:26 pm on July 23rd, 2008
Ungas, If u start Reading from Chapter 240 to 282 u will find the scene between those chapters, its a long range but that also what the OAV is basically adapted from…

YAYYYY FINALLLY!!!
Freeli at 11:30 pm on July 23rd, 2008
They jumped over most of the third term to show the end of it and what recently happened in the manga. Looks like this OVA covers some stuff leading right up to chapter 265.
Nozila at 11:38 pm on July 23rd, 2008
shit~ is coming~ ^_^ eh~ how many minutes this one
Kaitune at 11:40 pm on July 23rd, 2008
OMBFG!!! An emotional Karasuma???!!!
Umm… Things look kind of rush although Harima still looks as cool as ever. Hopefully, the next episode won’t be so rushed like this one.
tylon at 11:42 pm on July 23rd, 2008
They are try to match the ending fever with the manga so as to boost it’s sales. This is a 2 part OVA, right? Is there any news about a TV series?

@Ungas
They fight in chapters 263 and 264.
Back on topic. It was a little weird seeing Karasuma like that, considering he’s always quiet yet eccentric, but it makes me like him even more. I feel sorry for what happens to him *being vague*. And if they plan to cover it till the end, this probably will be more than two episodes, unless they spread it a little thin.
Fumika at 11:58 pm on July 23rd, 2008
By lack of contingency, you mean lack of consistency don’t you?
Ronin at 11:59 pm on July 23rd, 2008
A lot of people is disappointed with the manga finale : besides having too many open ends, Harima ends up exactly where he was at the beginning of the story. Let’s hope the anime ending is better.

@Fumika:
Actually, I was thinking “continuity”, so I’m not sure why I typed “contingency”. Pretty much for those unfamiliar with the manga (myself included), this episode felt very disjointed.
