AIC doesn’t cease to amaze me with their work here. Their animation is so detailed, clean, and crisp that it makes you think you’re watching some high budget BONES production. It takes awhile to notice that you’re actually not, and seeing this level of quality in a comedy series of all things. Now if only all studios could produce work at these standards.

Now this is the Saitou Chiwa that I know. Miyako is bratty, obnoxious, yet somewhat cute, unlike the other end of the spectrum seen in Senjougahara Hitagi. What’s surprising here is Takagaki Ayahi, who’s voicing Sumika like I’ve never heard her before.

After watching Kakeru run away for four episodes, I was starting to wonder when the poor guy will ever awaken his ability. He may have been hotheaded at first, but his frustration is justified at this point. Luckily that all changes now; Kakeru awakens, along with his Eye of Aeon.

“Determination”

I just hate it when people are meandering over miscommunication and the angst that goes along with it, but I can really feel for the characters here. Yes, everything can be resolved if one person is able to break past their insecurities, but when no one can, you just want to get in there and do it yourself.

Zaraki’s appears just in time to save Kira, and almost everyone is surprised to see him.

Summary:
Lucy manages to get free from Duke Everlue’s grasp with some help from Happy, and she’s figured out the book’s secret.
