「赤と緑のリボン」 (Aka to Midori no Ribon)
“Red and Green Ribbons”
Zazie is definitely the grouch of the holidays. With the Letter Bees dressing up as Holy Night messengers (i.e Santa) and delivering presents to less fortunate kids up north, he wasn’t enjoying it one bit and made sure Lag knew every step of the way. While the two of them team up for this special occasion, Niche is unhappy about being force to stay at the Bee-Hive, but finds some dingo companionship in Wasiolka.

Show Spoiler for Bleach Chapter 386 ▼
I actually thought this chapter was a good read. I loved Komamura’s expression in the above shot - it was the perfect mix of pissed off and disgust that Tousen of all people is calling him ugly. I bet he wishes that his bankai had a flyswatter or a giant can of Raid for times like these. Not surprisingly though, Resurrección Tousen was able to bring down Komamura’s bankai. What was interesting was that Tousen would let Shuuhei to sneak up on him and that this battle would end without one of the good guys showing a new ability to counter the Resurrección. It’s good for there to be some unpredictability to these fights, and I guess Tousen let his guard down or something after experiencing all of his new senses, a fitting end for him if it is indeed the end. I want this to be his death so that the story can move forward (and all clues in the chapter indicate that it is), but I’m not entirely convinced that he won’t have another form or special ability that keeps him alive, or that Aizen won’t reveal that it was all an illusion.

「なんでもない」 (Nande mo Nai)
“It’s Nothing”
It’s just a hunch on my part, but Sumika x Ushio feels really close now. With Azusa aware of how they really feel about one another and taking a step back from Sumika, it’s only a matter of time before Ushio realizes as well. Azusa handles herself quite gracefully after Tomoe offers a few words of wisdom, but oddly enough, a trip to the pool is what got us there.

「ハイスクールララバイ」 (Hai Sukuuru Rarabai)
“High School Lullaby”
The planets magically align and Hajime has a good feeling about the return of the pretty girl maid warrior Yamazaki Kanako. As hilarious as it was seeing Kanako’s reaction to the thought of that, we get another unexpected development — a grown-up, well-endowed Jun in hotpants!

「天国は待ってくれる?」 (Tengoku wa Matte Kureru?)
“Heaven Awaits?”
I know it’s somewhat cheesy when they play the opening theme near the end of a finale, but I actually like the whole “coming full circle” feel it gives off. Sure enough, Junpei’s curse does just that as he gets transformed into a cat completely before having the curse’s severity reduced. He’s human again but not free from it entirely, leading us to the biggest surprise at the end of the episode — a second season has been greenlit!

「滅亡という選択 válogatott-hoz kialvás」 (Metsubou to iu Sentaku)
“The Destruction Option”
Can we get a new 11eyes player here? I’m not exactly sure where this one messed up, but he’s working his way towards one hell of a bad ending and I wanted to see the good one. What was that? This is an anime and there are no additional playthroughs? Well son of a…

「Weihnachten ~臓物たちの奇跡~」 (Zoumotsu-tachi no Kiseki)
“Christmas ~The Zoumotsu Animals’ Miracle~”
Well it looks like episode eleven is all we’re getting story-wise, so the manga and light novels are the next step for any more Kampfer-related needs. Despite leaving things open-ended (as expected), they provided a climactic finish with all the fights at least. Natsuru also made a decision amongst the girls, which landed him the touted harem ending.

「感じていたいです……」 (Kanjiteitai Desu……)
“I Want To Feel It……”
I was a bit surprised to see Yuuto flutter around aimlessly so much, but with some encouragement he finally came around and handled stuff like he always does. I don’t know if I should be grateful that problems here never seem to last more than an episode though. Saving us from unnecessary angst is a good thing, but it’s kind of a double-edged sword when we’re flying plot-free most of the time.

Show Spoiler for Naruto Chapter 476 ▼
It’s so gross seeing those Sharingans squirming about Danzou’s arm so I didn’t even want to use that as the picture for this chapter. Just to clear up any confusion from last time, they do appear to be fully developed Sharingans (3 dots), but not of the Mangekyou variety. Much like many people have suggested, I’m under the impression that Danzou went farming for eyes from all the corpses left behind during Itachi’s massacre of his clan. As Kakashi has shown us, it’s possible to continue developing Sharingans after they’ve been transplanted to their new host, which explains how Danzou has so many high level eyes. Sealing his arm evidently hides the fact that the eyes are there, since Ao’s Byakugan didn’t pick them up specifically during the Kages’ summit meeting.
As for Sasuke, it looks like he’s using his Mangekyou more now, along with the ability to summon Susanoo. I gather he activated his eyes when he killed Itachi, since the requirement is to kill the person closest to you. After the big revelation of how Itachi gave up everything for the sake of Konoha and how he was always looking out for his little brother, I presume this means he was the closest person to him. Sasuke didn’t go as far as obtaining an eternal Mangekyou like Madara suggested though, meaning he too will lose his vision down the stretch. However, I’m still a bit puzzled about how all this works. I mean, Itachi’s eyes were on the verge of degrading to complete blindness so I could see why he needed a fresh pair of Sharingans as his new light to make his Mangekyou eternal. The same with Madara and his brother. Now is it expected to work the same the other way around if Sasuke were to take Itachi’s degraded pair of eyes? i.e. Does the eternal requirement basically come down to activating your own Mangekyou and then taking another’s regardless of its state? (Funny how that seems to be the case.)
Anyway, the heavy reliance on genjutsu from Sharingan users still seems like a cheap way to develop suspense from their fights. The way I see it, it’s equivalent to the ultimate “it was all a dream” cop-out ending. Except here, it’s the “it was all a genjutsu” way out. I don’t recall exactly, but during Sasuke’s fight versus Itachi, that must have happened at least two or three times with each of them “turning the tide” by breaking free of the other’s illusion. As such, I’m reluctant to take anything as reality when it comes to Sasuke’s fight with Danzou just like we saw at the end of this chapter. Unless there’s some verification following a supposed killing blow, I’m not taking anything they show me (especially cliffhangers) at face value.
Aside from that, I found it funny how even Kakashi thought Sakura’s digging her own grave by going after Sasuke. Sure, we don’t know how much she’s developed since her fight with Sasori (for which she had HUGE help from Chiyo of Sunagakure), but it’s hard to imagine anyone measuring up to Sasuke’s growth now short of Naruto. That’s likely the way they want to play up their eventual encounter, so I’m almost willing to bet that no one’s going to be able to stop Sasuke until then. That includes Danzou right now. As for Naruto himself, I feel sorry for him. It’s almost like his motivation in life for the past three years has come to a crashing halt. With all his friends abandoning any attempt of saving Sasuke and Naruto well aware of their reasons for doing so, the thought on what he should do literally eats him up inside to the point where he collapses. He’s a simple-minded protagonist who wears his heart on his sleeve, but even I didn’t expect that to happen.

As some of you may already have noticed, we’ve made a couple of improvements to the site over the past week. First up is the addition of the Site Map page to replace the horrendously long Categories and Archives tabs at the top. With the number of entries we have, navigating down to the bottom of those lists wasn’t practical at all, not to mention that the drop-down actually appeared behind flash videos. In addition to categories and archives, we also included direct links to the Season Previews for easier access.
Beside each of the category links are post counts. They should help provide a quick glimpse as to which sections have a fair bit of content. For some categories, you’ll also notice a downwards arrow. Clicking on it will provide you with direct links to all the posts under that category. This was done for popular ones with a relatively large number of entries, where your only alternative before was to go to its category page and click on “Next Page” a bunch of times to find what you’re looking for. Overall, this static page should make it easier to jump around the site, especially if you’re on a notebook/netbook and limited to a touchpad.

…More improvements and an update after the jump.
